The series Crazy in the Piece will get a dramatic reboot by Willbrook and Jada Pinkett Smith's Westbrook Studios. The American comedy debuted in the 1990s and is successful today, being shown on the closed channel Comedy Central and available in the catalogs of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The project was inspired by Morgan Cooper's video. The fictional trailer that reimagines the series as a dramatic production entitled Bel-Air was published by the director on YouTube last year and has gone viral since then, accumulating over 5 million views.
The reboot, which does not yet have an official title, has its purchase disputed by several streaming platforms. The competition includes Netflix and Prime Video, as well as Apple TV + and HBO Max, whose catalog houses the original series abroad. After purchase, a full season must be ordered.

According to Variety, Cooper was asked to sign the script, direct the project and act as an executive producer. Chris Collins (John Wick 3) joins the team to act as a showrunner and be part of the production, in addition to co-writing the script alongside Cooper. Will Smith will produce the series for his studio, along with Quincy Jones (The Color Purple), Benny Medina (The Scammers, The Toss of Crime) and the creators of the original series Andy and Susan Borowitz.
Maluco no Pedaço was shown on the foreign channel NBC, between 1990 and 1996 and lasted six seasons, totaling 150 episodes. In addition to Will Smith, the series also starred James Avery, Janet Hubert, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Ross Bagley.

The series was responsible for making Will Smith's career as an actor take off, starring in several blockbuster productions, such as MIB – Men in Black, Bad Boys, Me, Robot and the Independence Day film series. The actor also gave life to the Lamp Genie in the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, Aladdin.
