The first rumors about Army of Thieves: Invasion of Europe said that there would be no zombies in the prequel, and then the first poster subtly announced the possibility of retaking that element of Army of the Dead: Invasion of Las Vegas by saying that the new film has “more safes” and “less zombies”. With the arrival of the first teaser this Monday (26), we can see where the element of horror enters the character Dieter’s solo film.

Matthias Schweighöfer directs the prequel focused on the character he played in the Zack Snyder film, who is expected to return for a sequel to the franchise’s zombie arm. Dieter’s story, on the other hand, takes advantage of the distraction of the zombie apocalypse in Las Vegas to launch a heist film that will mix crime and horror genres.

In the description of the video, Netflix did not disclose major details of the plot, which should only emerge with the release of an extended synopsis, if any:

“In Zack Snyder’s pre-Army of the Dead: Las Vegas Invasion, Dieter’s life takes a twist when a mysterious woman recruits him to join the world’s most wanted criminals and steal a series of over-protected safes in Europe”.

Based on a story by Zack Snyder, Army of Thieves features a script by Shay Hatten (John Wick 3 – Parabellum). Still without a defined release date, Army of Thieves should be released on Netflix in 2021.
