India has barely begun its space adventures involving the moon and already has plans to send a spacecraft to the second planet of the Solar System, Venus. ISRO (Indian space agency) has already sent the idea to the country's government, and is awaiting authorization for a mission orbiting the "infernal planet" in the coming years, perhaps by 2023.
The idea is to study the neighboring planet more deeply, not only to observe its surface, but also a little of the Venusian interior. The probe to be sent would have more than a dozen instruments to analyze the star's atmosphere and ionosphere, and more. "The main objective is to map the surface and subsurface of Venus," confirmed Nigar Shaji, an ISRO scientist.
Soviet Union and United States have even sent rigs to Venus in the past. ESA (European Space Agency) has also studied the planet in question, as well as Japan. If the Indians succeed, ISRO will be the fifth agency to explore the planet Venus from its orbit.
